Panthenol (B5)
Soothes, hydrates and helps repair the skin barrier.
What the evidence says
Well-documented humectant and repair agent; very well tolerated.
How to use it
No restrictions: morning and night, at any routine step (toner, serum or cream). It's especially useful after exfoliating or when starting retinoids, when the barrier needs support.
What it pairs with
Compatible with everything. It teams up well with ceramides and hyaluronic acid for barrier repair, and softens routines built around acids or retinoids.
Frequently asked questions
Is panthenol the same as vitamin B5?
It's the provitamin: once it penetrates the skin it converts into pantothenic acid (vitamin B5), which plays a role in barrier repair. On the INCI you'll see it as "Panthenol" or "Dexpanthenol".
Does it help skin irritated by retinol or acids?
Yes — that's exactly its territory: it hydrates, reduces transepidermal water loss and speeds up barrier recovery. On over-exfoliated or retinized days, a cream with panthenol and ceramides is the standard rescue plan.
